Every year, young programmers go head-to-head at the Delft and Twente Algorithm Programming Contests (DAPC and TAPC respectively). These sharp students compete in teams of two or three to solve 6-10 complex problems with one goal: solve these problems with the most efficient algorithm. The winning team gets -besides bragging rights- the chance to advance to the Benelux Algorithm Programming Contest (BAPC) held later this year.
Hosted by the study association Christiaan Huygens, the Delft Algorithm Programming Contest took place at the Technical University of Delft on September 21st. The humorously named “Segfault go BRRRR” team snagged the first-place prize, each member winning a pack of “BetterBeer”.
On the 28th of September, the Twente Algorithm Programming Contest took place at the University of Twente, hosted by study association Inter-Actief. To join in on the fun, three non-student employees from BetterBe entered the competition ultimately winning second place in the “unofficial” category.
Moreover, we are happy to announce the first-place winners of the student competition were team “Cache me if you can”, two of its members being BetterBe student employees Mihai and Daan! We are extremely proud of them and are lucky to have such stellar coders in our company.
As BetterBe strives for quality programming (click here to read our development team’s best programming advice) we naturally sponsor this competition every year to empower the next generation of tech wizards. In fact, many of the crème-de-la-crème coders from the TAPC join the ranks of our very own development team. Rest assured; the future of programming is bright.
